The Story and Production NotesThe Prophecy trailer was originally filmed with the intention of making a feature length fantasy movie based on it a later date. We began filming in early spring of 2004 with the mindset of throwing as much action into the mix as possible. At that point, no one in Andrew K. Sears' non-linear editing class had done a fantasy flick and we decided that we would be the first.
Rob and Andrew filmed sword fighting scenes several days before the actual story scenes were shot. We weren't sure if we were going to use the footage until much later. After a few days, Mainstreet UFO enlisted the help of Matt Ryan (after his performance in Family Values as the Mob Boss) and Elisabeth May so that there would be multiple sword fights going on at once.
The first shots were by a large, fallen tree where Matt sliced a guy (people played multiple parts) and ran up the tree and then proceeded to jump down on top of another man (played by Andrew). Another shot was filmed where Matt killed Andrew and Elisabeth killed Rob in the background. Another scene was shot with a small bridge where Andrew, Rob and Matt attacked Elisabeth, who killed all of the men. Another scene was shot with Rob consoling Elisabeth by a grave. Another was with Rob and Andrew looking out at the river and seeing a destroyed bridge pylon. The film was edited in a few days by Andrew and was released in the spring of 2004, much to the enjoyment of Andrew's classmates. |
